I am a Ph.D. (ABD) candidate in Spanish Linguistics at the University of Houston and I am currently co-coordinating the Spanish L2 Program in the Department of Hispanic Studies. My work lies at the intersection of bilingual phonetics, heritage Spanish, and language pedagogy, with a focus on how crosslinguistic influence shapes speech production and perception in bilingual populations.
My research uses acoustic experimental methods to examine phonetic variation and lexical stress in heritage speakers of Spanish in the United States. Alongside my research, I am actively engaged in curriculum design and program development, leading initiatives that integrate communicative approaches, flipped learning models, and emerging technologies into language instruction.
My work is driven by a commitment to bridging research and practice, developing pedagogical frameworks that respond to the linguistic realities of diverse student populations and contribute to more effective and inclusive language education.
